What Plants are We Growing?

  • Pasture

Peter Andrews states in his book Back from the Brink that a healthy pasture should contain 80 species. This massive biodiversity enables greater production and more resilience to climate shocks.

  • Crops

Growing crops, we are inherently focused on providing the best conditions for a single species to grow. By using regenerative practices, we can have that crop flourish while maintaining below-ground biodiversity, giving the best chance for a high yield.

  • Weeds

Weeds are simply a plant growing in the wrong place. They tend to be pioneer species, so if we can create high successional environments and healthy soils, we prevent the conditions for those weeds to dominate.
